Summer at The Studio Door is a weeklong art camp for teens (ages 13–18) held in the creative heart of San Diego at The Studio Door. Students learn foundational art skills, study inspiring artists, and complete their own project to exhibit in a real gallery space.

2025 Session Dates

  • Week 1: July 7–11 – Portraiture & Expression Sign Up
  • Week 2: July 14–18 – Still Life & Landscape Sign Up
  • Week 3: July 21–25 – Abstract & Conceptual Art Sign Up

Time: 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM, Monday–Friday
Location: The Studio Door, 3867 Fourth Ave, San Diego
Tuition: $400/week
Includes: Basic art materials (students may bring additional supplies)

What Students Will Learn

  • Drawing and painting fundamentals
  • Color theory, tools, and techniques
  • Art history and creative expression
  • Daily critique and peer review
  • Gallery prep and final project exhibition

Daily Structure

  • Day 1: Theme intro, sketching, project brainstorming
  • Days 2–3: Color theory, technique, sample paintings
  • Days 4–5: Student project, gallery prep, mentorship
  • Friday afternoon: Family-friendly gallery exhibition
