About the Publication

The Work of Art is a quarterly visual and literary arts publication presented by Bee the Change Foundation. Each digital issue celebrates creative expression, highlighting visual art and poetry that support personal well-being and foster care, connection, and social change in individuals and communities alike.

Issue 1: Care – Call for Submissions

Care can be personal or collective, quiet or visible. For Issue 1 of The Work of Art, we invite visual art and poetry that explore “care” as a practice or a way of nurturing healthier people and communities.

Visual Art

Painting, drawing, illustration, printmaking, digital art, collage, photography, mixed media, and related visual formats.

Poetry

Poetry in any style. Please submit each poem as a separate file when possible.

Accepted Formats

  • Visual Art: Painting, drawing, illustration, digital art, collage, photography (up to 5 pieces per artist).
  • Poetry: Up to 5 poems (max 2 pages per poem).

Basic Guidelines

  • Original work only — unpublished and authentically yours.
  • No AI-generated content.
  • Creator statement (optional): 50–75 words about your process or piece.

Submission Fee & Waivers

Fee: $5 per piece. This supports our nonprofit mission and is tax-deductible. Maximum 5 submissions.

Waivers available. No explanation needed. Email WorkOfArt@BeeTheChangeFoundation.com with the subject: Work of Art – Fee Waiver Request.

How to Submit

After submitting your fee, you’ll receive a submission link within 24 hours.

Pay Submission Fee

Note: If you submit your fee on the last day, you’ll still have 24 hours after receiving the link to upload your work.

Timeline for Issue 1 – Care

  • Submission Period: Feb 6 – Mar 20, 2026
  • Review Period: Mar 21 – Apr 5, 2026
  • Notification Date: Apr 6, 2026
  • Final Files Due: Apr 13, 2026
  • Publication Release: Apr 30, 2026

Additional Submission Guidelines

  • Submission cap: 5 pieces total (mixed or single medium).
  • File types: JPG/PNG for art (300 DPI preferred), PDF/DOCX for poetry.
  • Labeling: Use clear file names including your name and piece title.
  • Include: Name, email, optional pronouns/location/website.
  • Rights: You keep your copyright. We request publication/promo rights with credit.
  • Selection: Based on theme fit, clarity, impact, and originality.
  • Notifications: All submitters contacted by Apr 6, 2026.
